Frihedsmuseet

Frihedsmuseet (Churchillparken, Frederiksstaden, Copenhagen) – this museum pays tribute to the Danish resistance movement against the Nazi occupation of that country.  It also recalls resistance members saving 7,000 Jews from the Nazis and spiriting them away to nearby Sweden.   This museum also keeps an elaborate photo and document archive from that period, showing the Danes who joined the Allied forces, and the eventual liberation of the country.   Note:  this museum is temporarily closed due to a fire that damaged its building.  Check the Museum’s website for a scheduled reopening date:  www.frihedsmuseet.dk
