Carlsberg Brewery (Gamle Carlsberg Vej 11, Vesterbro, Copenhagen) – one of the oldest breweries in Scandinavia, visitors here get the chance to tour the brewery (built in 1847). A 45-minute tour is conducted daily at 2 pm. Among other things, participants will learn about Carlsberg beer founder J.C. Jacobsen’s struggle to refine the beer and the brewer process. Participants will also learn about his dedication to science and his donations to Copenhagen.
The tour also includes the stables and the big Jutland dray horses, bringing back memories of previous days when beer was delivered by horse-drawn drays. In the sculpture garden, visitors can see a tiny part of Carl Jacobsen’s collection, including a Rodin and a small version of The Little Mermaid, from 1937.
